چکیده
Objective To compare biomechanical characteristics of three-loop pulley (3LP) pattern versus Bunnell technique (BT) using polydioxanone (PDS) suture; to determine the influence polyester tape (PT) PDS on BT for equine superficial digital flexor tendon (SDFT) tenorrhaphy; with PT 3LP PDS. Study Design Ex vivo study. Sample Population Forty forelimb SDFT. Methods Two experiments were performed: (1) 10 SDFT pairs repaired or PDS; (2) BT. Load at failure, mode load 2 mm gap, and gap failure obtained a material testing machine. Results In experiment 1, + PDS1 had higher loads (p < .001) .001), smaller than = .024). 2, PT2 larger .004) PDS2. mostly failed by suture/implant pull-through while suture breakage. greater .035) PDS1, no difference in .14). Conclusion The use may be justified over if combined PT. However, size required stab incisions placement was subjectively more difficult place Clinical Significance PT, although strongest among tested repairs, would only able withstand 12%–24% encountered walk.

Flexor Tenorrhaphy Using Absorbable Suture Materials
BACKGROUND Nonabsorbable sutures are favorable for repairing flexor tendons. However, absorbable sutures have performed favorably in an animal model. METHODS Two-strand sutures using the interlocking modified Kessler method with polydioxanone absorbable sutures 4-0 were used to repair completely ruptured flexor tendons in 55 fingers from 41 consecutive patients. The medical records of average...
متن کاملComputed Tomographic Tenography of Normal Equine Digital Flexor Tendon Sheath: An Ex Vivo Study
Aim of this study was to document the normal computed tomographic tenography findings of digital flexor tendon sheath. Six ex vivo normal equine forelimbs were used. An axial approach was used to inject 185 mg/mL of iopamidol in a total volume of 60 mL into the digital flexor tendon sheaths. Single-slice helical scans, with 5 mm thickness, spaced every 3 mm, for a pitch of 0.6, and with bone al...
متن کاملSuture material for flexor tendon repair: 3–0 V-Loc versus 3–0 Stratafix in a biomechanical comparison ex vivo
BACKGROUND Barbed suture material offers the possibility of knotless flexor tendon repair, as suggested in an increasing number of biomechanical studies. There are currently two different absorbable barbed suture products available, V-Loc and Stratafix, and both have not been compared to each other with regard to flexor tendon repair. The purpose of this study was to evaluate both suture materi...

متن کاملIdentification of surgically-induced longitudinal lesions of the equine deep digital flexor tendon in the digital flexor tendon sheath using contrast-enhanced ultrasonography: an ex-vivo pilot study
BACKGROUND Longitudinal tears in the lateral aspect of the deep digital flexor tendon are the most common causes of pain localised to the equine digital flexor tendon sheath. However conventional ultrasonographic techniques provide limited information about acute lesions. Ultrasonographic contrast agents are newly developed materials that have contributed to advancement in human diagnostic imag...
